I agree with the above post: Vista Blvd isn't going to get a bike lane anytime soon. In the mean time, ride a "safer", alternate route via the bikes lanes on Pyramid Hgwy or take Sparks Blvd down to the bike path. You have got to be a bit crafty and flexible to avoid traffic. I get to work 30 mins early sometimes to avoid the "crushhour" traffic. Don't forget happyhour on the way home.

Timothy,

No doubt about it, riding on Vista is pretty scary. There's way too much traffic for a bicyclist to feel anything close to comfortable.

Vista is not going to get a bike lane until they widen it. There's no room on the pavement for cars and bikes and bike, of course, lose out.

If you want to complain, the best place is probably the RTC. Widening Vista is in the long term plan but your call could be the straw that puts in on the schedule earlier.

I have tried multiple times contacting my city councilman in Sparks regarding the lack of a bike lane on Vista Blvd between Vista Del Rancho and Wingfield Hills. This is a heavily travelled road by both vehicles and bicyclist. Unfortunately there are two routes in and out of this area and neither includes a bike lane or even a shoulder.

If anyone has suggestions on constructive ways to take this issue to the next level please let me know.
