<description>A friend took the written test at DMV for her permit and we are fighting the answer she got wrong to one of them.

? was. What should you not do when riding a bicycle?
A. Wear a helmet
B. Wear headphones
C. Drink Alcohol

She answered drink alcohol and got this ? wrong. In actuality there are TWO correct answers. Do you know what the law is about wearing headphones while riding a bicycle and wear I would find this actually written? Also if a rider has to Obey the laws of the road as a driver of a vehicle does then that makes them subject to not being able to drink and drive a bike right? Is there anything you know of that is in writing that states you cannot drink while riding a bike??? We are trying to get this question re-worded and or taken off the exam because it is a no win question. They basically told us that its a technicality and there is no actual law that prohibits you from drinking while riding a bike. That does not sound right considering you have to obey the traffic laws as a driver of a car and one of the traffic laws is that you cannot drink alcohol, or at least have a blood alcohol limit of over .08....

		<description>Hi,

I commute everyday from Silver Knolls (Red Rock Road) to Reno. The shoulders on North Virginia Street and the bike lane on McCarran Blvd. are full of gravel, broken glass, and other debris that cyclist fear. I contacted NDOT and the City of Reno about sweeping and was told they would take care of it, it never happened. I again contacted them the on Monday before Bike to Work Day and was told they would try to get it done. Well, to date, I am still dodging debris that sometimes forces me to take a travel lane.

Who else can I call to get the hazards taken care of.

		<description>Stephanie,

The “Safe Bicycling in Nevada Pocket Guide” is a publication of the NV Department of Public Safety. In fact a new version has just come out. It should be available at most bike shops. You also can ask Laurie Anne Grimes to send you one - lagrimes@dps.state.nv.us.

Thanks for asking.

<description>Elaine, we need to push cycling as a safe, effective way to commute, shop and socialize to the maximum extent possible.

We may even need to encourage people to live longer and healthier.

Please include me in whatever announcements you have as we pursue the myriad of steps toward alternative energy and conservation.

<description>Check out this video on how European countries have integrated biking into city planning!

It would be so awesome if this guy, or someone similar, could present this info to Reno city planners.</description>
